Curriculum

Our education philosophy is best implemented in a learning center type environment. Areas of instruction and interest offer a choice of blocks, book corner, puppets, dramatic play, housekeeping, small manipulatives, arts and language.

Children may enjoy the large muscle equipment, puzzles, games, easel painting, or story time. The children learn through his or her own discoveries and hands-on experience.

Music, nature, science, and outside play are also included in each week's activities. Letters, numbers, and concepts are an integral part of many daily activities.

Our teachers work with individuals or groups of two to allow the children to learn at their own pace. Belchertown Community Preschool is a program encompassing all areas of child development and growth.

Emphasis is placed on learning to get along with others, giving, and sharing, as well as receiving affection and becoming self-disciplined.

Visiting  the Belchertown Firefighters, trips to the library, Austin's Farm, Quabbin,  Magic Wings Butterfly museum, Lupa Farm, and picnics all combine with the daily activities to help our preschoolers to enter into group discussion, learn to wonder, and solve problems within their abilities.
